Things could not have gone any better for my business in 2008. I made significant gains in both my business as well as my shooting and post-processing skills. However, looking back on it I can't count it as being a successful year. Every day was work, cook dinner, clean up, put kids to bed, sleep, repeat. Even when I wasn't working I was thinking about work and about future plans. You know, "once I reach goals XYZ things will be so much better". Well this year things are going to be different. I'm going to work a bit less, play a bit more, and focus on squeezing some enjoyment out of every single day. To that end, I was happy that my friend Maurice (who's an awesome photographer) invited me to attend a cooking class with him. The class was at Blue Ribbon Cooking, and was focused on "knife skills". Here's the teacher Mike Duppenthaler, chef and owner of Blue Ribbon Cooking:
Although you can cook a great meal with any knife (sound familiar?), if you've never used a professional cooking knife you're in for a treat! Here are the knives we worked with:

Go out there and have some fun! Those images waiting to be processed will still be there when you get back, I promise. But once the day is over, it's gone forever. |
